Sofa RX

I bought my current sofa about a year ago from IKEA when I wanted something inexpensive for my current apartment. My cat, Martin, destroyed both arms in about two months and I've been living with it since. I don’t want to buy a new sofa just yet so I decided to see if I could repair it to the point where I can bear living with it for a while longer.

I went to La Casita Yarn Shop and found a perfect match to the sofa colour.

To mend the arms, I trimmed the loose threads as close to the fabric as I could and then darned the massive holes Martin had made.

The yarn and darning needles cost $12 and it took about an hour and a half to do the first (and worst) arm; though I don't sew so it may take you less time if your cats have forced you to take similar steps.

It's such an improvement. The entire room looks neater and the cat-clawed mess is no longer the first thing people notice when they walk in.
